The musician just invested a substantial sum in a rising fashion star, plus more news you missed this week
We may know him as a platinum-selling musician, fashion trailblazer and actor in various films, but Harry Styles is now adding one more string to his bow – that of angel investor. At the end of S.S. Daley’s AW24 show at Pitti Uomo, label founder Steven Stokey-Daley announced that Styles would be acquiring a minority stake in his brand, joining forces in hopes the world may never run out of Oxford boaters and wide leg pantaloons. “Harry and I have a shared vision for the future of S.S. Daley”, the Scouse designer told WWD last night, “and we look forward to this new chapter together as we focus on brand longevity and scaling the business into a modern British heritage house.”
Whether Styles is hankering for a spot next to Deborah Meaden on Dragon’s Den, or vying to become the next Bernard Arnault, details on the financial particulars are still scant. Despite this, the link up makes total sense. Styles long-time stylist Harry Lambert kitted the musician out in Stokey-Daley’s graduate collection for his “Golden” music video in 2020, and since then Styles has been a vocal supporter of the brand. Plus, Liverpool and the singer’s native Cheshire are only an hour apart on the M6, so at least the pair aren’t facing too crazy a commute.
In other fashion news this week, the Golden Globes kicked off awards season with a red carpet dominated by Schiaparelli, Prada, and a fleet of motherplanes; Saint Laurent dared to ask how can you not say mother? with its new campaign starring music icon Diana Ross; FKA Twigs hit back at the UK Advertising Standards Authority’s bizarre decision to ban her Calvin Klein ad; plus Dazed Fashion spoke to Holiday Club’s Bisoye Babalola about democratising the industry with their new summer school initiative. BURBERRY SAID NEW YEAR, NEW COLLECTION
Chiming in the year of the dragon, Burberry headed to the streets of Chengdu to showcase its Lunar New Year capsule collection. Starring Chinese actors Chen Kun and Tang Wai, the Ryan McGinley-shot campaign featured some psychedelic houndstooth, rose-printed trench coats and nova check scarves, but this time all in blood-red, to symbolise good luck and prosperity for the new year. Check out the entire collection here.
WALES BONNER’S SPRINT FINISH
Ahead of its AW24 showcase at Paris Fashion Week Mens, Grace Wales Bonner’s eponymous label just dropped a fresh batch of images for its SS24 “Marathon” collection. The Malick Bodian-lensed campaign stars Ethiopian runners Yomif Kejelcha and Tamirat Tola, captured in denim and leather across the French capital. In the show notes for the collection last June, Wales Bonner praised the “unwavering spirit” of long distance runners and described the garments as an “ode to long journeys and life missions.” Head here to shop the collection.
STONE ISLAND GETS TRICKY
Ahead of the brand’s first ever catwalk show at Milan Fashion Week, Stone Island surprised us today with a star-studded campaign for its SS24 collection. Lensed by David Sims and styled by Max Pearmain, British rapper Dave, action star Jason Statham and music legend Tricky all feature in the images, injecting tonnes more personality than the brand’s usual stoney faced models. The campaign is also accompanied by a short Q&A with each of its stars, with interview questions doled out by art curator and Serpentine director Hans Ulrich Obrist. For more of the collection, head here.

GUESS CELEBRATED 40 YEARS IN FLORENCE
Guess marked the big 4-0 by landing in Florence at Pitti Uomo to give attendees a closer look at its past and future. Via a mammoth immersive experience, the denim label showcased a series of its innovative crafting methods and the technical innovations that will take it forward into the next 40 years in a far more sustainable way.
NATASHA ZINKO WENT CAMPING
It’s hard to imagine many fashion people – with their silly shoes and impractical looks – would be into camping, but proving that not entirely unfounded stereotype wrong this week was Natasha Zinko, who dropped her Pre-Fall 2024 collection Back 2 Camp. Don’t think she’s going to be slipping into anything akin to a Craghoppers cagoule though: the offering is made up of slouchy cashmere hoodies, pumped up biker jackets, acid wash denim, and rhinestone-encrusted trackies.
